About

Please join us for this hands-on zine workshop by Greensboro-based artist, Sarah LaPonte.

A zine is a handmade DIY publication, often created with methods that allow for easy and affordable reproduction and distribution. Historically, zines were made to help facilitate the dispersion of very specific information to a very specific community. Today, as a format for presenting information, zines lend themselves well to experimentation and ingenuity.

A comic can be a zine, a printed-out collection of emails can be a zine, a single piece of paper can be a zine, a perfect-bound full-color photo series can be a zine, a trifold pamphlet can be a zine. There are no limits! Zines can be anything!

This workshop at NCMA affiliate SECCA in Winston-Salem focuses on simple zine-making methods as well as experimenting with a variety of ways to generate, adapt, and reproduce thoughts and images through printmaking techniques.
