Directed by Twin City Track Club, the Cook Medical Beat the Heat is one of the most popular races in North Carolina. It has been selected multiple time by Endurance Magazine as the best 5K in Triad NC and was featured in Running Journal magazine as the #1 “Under the Radar” race in the South. Beat the Heat is a charity event with proceeds going to local non-profits that support health and fitness in the community. This year proceeds are going to Ainsley’s Angels and LEAD Girls of North Carolina.

The evening start time and festive atmosphere make the event popular for all levels of runners. Each year, close to 100 participants run their very first 5K at Beat the Heat. And more than 50 elite runners will compete in the NC USATF 5K Championship. The 2022 race will start and finish at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. The races will start and finish in front of the Education Building on the Fairgrounds property. Parking for the race will be in the LJVM Coliseum Parking lot for easy access to/from the starting line. Stick around after the race for complimentary snacks and beer (for runners and volunteers only). You can sign up as an individual or create your own social team to run.
