USE Winston-Salem, in partnership with the Wake Forest University Face to Face Speaker Forum and Bookmarks, announces the first event in the year-long series, WFU Face to Face: In-Depth with MUSEws!
On Saturday, September 10th, 1:00pm-2:30pm, at MUSE Winston-Salem, join us for “Picturing POTUS: A Drawing Workshop & Book Discussion with Professor John Hutton.”
ABOUT THE EVENT: George W. Bush, who has become a devoted portrait painter in his post-presidency, is coming to town later that week. During this special In-Depth with MUSEws event, participants will explore the 43rd president’s most recent book, Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants. And then the fun will really start! John Hutton, Professor of Art History at Salem College will lead a hands-on beginner’s workshop in the fine art of drawing pictures of American presidents. Hutton, author of How to Draw the Presidents and several other White House-themed illustrated books, will teach you the basics of drawing an American president. He’ll leave you with a sense of accomplishment, a drawing to walk away with, and probably a few laughs! And it might just give you a new appreciation for the former president’s foray into portraiture as well!
Refreshments and art supplies will all be provided!
