Bethesda Center for the Homeless was founded in 1987 as a collaborative effort between the City of Winston-Salem, First Presbyterian Church, and Forsyth/Stokes Area Mental Health Program. Today, Bethesda has emerged as a leader in caring for the community’s most desperate individuals experiencing homelessness. Bethesda Center operates the only day shelter in the community and the only emergency night shelter that serves both men and women.
